Our chaise longue selection is perfect for seating guests upon entry, as well as providing additional style and glamour to your home. Often mispronounced as “chaise lounge”, these chairs befit their French origins of “lounging” or “long” chairs extremely well. In the 19th century, these were also sometimes called “fainting couches”, and used typically by ladies in the privacy of their homes when conditions such as “female hysteria” befell them. Often, homes had dedicated rooms to the “fainting couch”, where this would feature prominently among the other decor and furniture.
