Boring Christmas Presents, Luxury Edition

Christmas is just around the corner and the influx of Christmas idea posts are well on their way.  At Juliettes Interiors our focus is always luxury furniture, but we love all things luxurious.

Rather than produce yet another list of fancy items that seems to be the norm at this time of year, we decided to find the very best of “boring” Christmas presents money can buy.

The standard Christmas filler presents are now not so standard. They may even be better than what you could have wished for!

May we present to you Juliettes Boring Christmas Presents, Luxury Edition…

Socks & Tights

Socks at Christmas are standard practice, and don’t invite great excitement as a rule, however, find me one person that doesn’t love the feeling of putting on fresh socks, apart from people with Vestiphobia (a fear of clothing, to those who think its a fear of vests).

Take that new sock feeling and multiply it over and over and you will still be way off the feeling you will experience with these limited edition Falke socks made from the softest pure Peruvian Vicuna Wool.

Similar to socks, new tights feel great. Thing is with tights their lifespan isn’t huge, and because of this they are now a pretty standard boring filler present. If you manage a convincing smile when unwrapping a 50 denier pair of supermarket tights you may consider a career change.  The bright lights beckon.

Smothered in Swarovski crystals, worn by fashionistas, these are one pair of tights you won’t be able to hide your excitement when receiving.

Dressing Gowns

Dressing gowns are another staple present at this time of year, often nothing more than an oversized towel with arms and a belt. These on the other hand are far from boring.

Made from the finest cashmere north of the border, the Brora dressing gown is a wonderfully indulgent bedtime piece of comfort to always treasure. The sumptuous, fine textured rib make this a Christmas must-have you’ll never stop adoring.

This fabulous cashmere dressing gown by Derek Rose will certainly prevent someone stifling a yawn as it doesn’t get more luxurious than this. This timeless classic is made from luxury cashmere fabric, beautifully soft to the touch and supremely comfortable. Each and every one is hand-cut by by a master pattern cutter. They are then hand sewn and beautifully finished in their Cheshire workshop by highly skilled specialists.

These sumptuous dressing gowns are only made to order, so be sure take time into account if ordering for Christmas. Initials can also be embroidered on the breast pocket making it a unique luxury gift.

Toothbrush?

‘A toothbrush’ I hear you say! Surely not as a Christmas gift! But stop gnashing your teeth and take a look at this seriously high-tech traditional tooth brush from Reinhast. Electric brushes require a battery that requires constant charging or it will run out of power mid brush, traditional brushes wear out quickly.

The handle of this fabulous new design is made entirely from premium titanium. Made to higher specifications than for medical instruments, this seriously modern toothbrush offers a very strong lightweight solution.

It’s antibacterial protective layer guards against bacterial attack on the most important part which is present between the socket and the bristle head. Boring? We think not!

Perfume & Aftershave

Aftershave is a very personal purchase, care should be taken when buying such a gift, otherwise your unloved gift will languish at the back of a drawer, bathroom cabinet, or worse, passed on next year!

Due to the highest quality and concentration possible of each ingredient, only 1000 bottles for men are released making this aftershave very special indeed. Certainly not for relegation.

Roja Parfums A Goodnight Kiss eau de parfum is a tribute to Roja Dove’s mother, with scents conjuring up images of yesteryears. Smells like a fragrant vanity table plus the warmth of someone having just left the scene.

Scarves & Gloves

Gloves go hand in hand with scarves (pun intended), and they are often an overlooked fashion item. Practical yes, exciting no. However, we feel these particular examples are an exception and will definitely excite the recipient.

Denis Colomb’s penchant for exotic travel led him to the Far East and Nepal, where he developed a deep appreciation for the artistry and traditional techniques of the local craftsmen. Now creating the finest Mongolian cashmere scarves, the finest in the world. Warm, supremely soft and a must-have luxury scarf for him or her.

These luxury specimens by Rick Owens are made from premium goat skin together with luxurious silk linings for superb warmth and comfort. Designed with two open fingers on each hand so you can operate your gadgets whilst keeping the rest of your hands toasty. A very considerate gift we think.

No thermal in site. These are gloves to show off, not make snowballs with! Ladies’ gloves in glossy lambskin, silk-lined, Kelly finishings in gold-plated metal.

Books

Personally I love books for Christmas, but if you’re not an avid reader, and the book not to your taste, I can see how you may try not to grimace at the time receiving such a gift.

But hold the press! For the person who prefers their plonk to their fiction look no further than this ‘The impossible Collection of Wine’, and is even disguised.

A must for those wishing to discover the virtues of rarity, terroir, taste, and the historical mystique of wine, Bernardo’s is a list any connoisseur could only dream of. In these pages, Bernardo celebrates exquisite vintages from around the globe, from the Krug 1928 Champagne Collection, to the Penfolds 1951 Grange Bin 95, inviting the reader on a journey through history to savor an impossible collection.

Toiletries

Do you have random shower gel in your bathroom that never gets used? Face wash that you won’t put on your hands, let alone your face? Mouldy bath bombs that will never see a bath? Chances are it was an unwanted present. It will remain there gathering dust and be occasionally used by guests, maybe, until it is relocated to the bin.

If you must gift someone bathroom products, make sure it is the best of the best.

NuBo’s ultimate deluxe gift set provides a perfect set of facial and bathroom products. Luxurious with immediate visible results and long-lasting skin benefits.

Hand cream, moisturiser, soap. Zzz! Go all out and preserve youthful looks with this anti ageing creme.

Underwear

For him, snowmen, reindeer, trees, baubles and elves, are just a few of the festive textile prints that materialise on boxershorts this time of year. Cute for about a week, then wearing them in the new year is…well, just odd.

For her, baggy pants, apple catchers, whatever you want to call ugly underwear.  Don’t do it! Follow our lead with these suggestions…

These uber trendy boxers by Thom Browne on the other hand are top drawer (pun also intended).

Crafted from soft poplin cotton and finished with the American designer’s signature logo tab to the hem. High end, luxurious and totally cool, in more ways than one!

Fine bodysuit covered in seductive black embroidery that creates calligraphy motifs, reinterpreting La Perla’s iconic Autografo collection. This is a one-piece that creates the illusion of being a set thanks to the invisible tulle inserts.

Slippers

Slippers do get a bad press! And there are without a doubt some dubious offerings. It is seemingly the ultimate ‘boring’ gift. Yet what is more comforting than slipping your cold toes into a sumptuously warm pair of luxurious slippers! We think people ‘pretend’ not to like them.

These exquisite slippers by Loro Piana on the other hand should be on everyones list. Beautiful suede moccasins lined in silky soft mink fur. Warm and fantastically soft.

Available in an array of colourways these Gucci Princetown leather slippers are about as slick as you can get. And as far away from the carpet patterned or novelty slippers you can get. You’ll wan’t to wear these out on the town!

So that sums up our best of the worst presents people get at Christmas. We are pretty certain if you are on the receiving end of any our suggested alternatives you’d be hard pushed not to feel secretly, or not so secretly pleased.

Have a very happy, luxurious Christmas from all at Juliettes Interiors.
