How furniture can Increase the saleability of your home

A stagnant housing market has meant that rather than sell, many people are looking to improve their homes to create more space, a better living environment and if thought out carefully add value to their home for sale in the future. There are some simple things you can do to achieve this:

Personal taste often leads many people to carry out questionable renovations to their home. If you are making improvements, but may look to sell at some point in the future, you should always take into consideration the effect any renovations will have on the resale value of your home. The least permanent home improvements are those that simply update furniture. As this is something you can take with you when you move, you don’t need to think about resale value. The kitchen is an important room in the home and can make or break the sale of a house. Remodelling the kitchen is a great investment. A fully equipped modern kitchen is a joy to have and will certainly boost the value of your home. One word of advice though, it should still fit in with the rest of the house, so if you have a quaint country style house choose a kitchen that blends with rather than jars with the rest of the home.

If you only have one bathroom, it can be a good investment and good for large family life to add another. If you have space you don’t use, even small spaces you can easily fit in an additional bathroom or toilet that makes life easier and will add value. You can also save money and attract buyers by installing double glazing and adding energy efficient insulation. Make sure you comply with current standards to give your home a top energy rating and you may even be able to avail of government grants to carry out a project like this.

Don’t overlook the small improvements

Keep your home up to a certain standard. That way the small jobs never turn into big jobs. Keep cracks filled in, give a fresh coat of paint to grubby looking walls, update with luxury furniture, fix leaks and rotting wood promptly and keep on top of any damp areas. Ensure wiring and plumbing is in tip top condition and the garden area is kept neat and tidy. These are things that keep a home looking and functioning well and the things a prospective buyer will notice.

6 tips to a Luxury Feel in a Compact Space

According to top interior designers like Tom Scheerer there’s nothing more beautiful than a perfectly proportioned room. In today’s space-saving design environment, is it better to renovate a small space rather than move to a larger, uglier building ?

Living in a compact space is no longer the style constraint it once was. The world is full of cute, stylish buildings and interiors that perhaps aren’t much larger than your old student digs. But where there’s creativity there’s style, so here are six ways you can create a lavish, luxury feel in a small but perfectly formed living area.

1. Play to the atmospheric strengths of the space

We love old buildings that have been modernised to offer superb old-world style with modern convenience. Cornice mouldings, baseboards, original fireplaces, old exposed pipes – use the history and evocative feel of the space to best effect. The same goes for modern builds. Clean lines, sweeping curves, blank walls – don’t fight the space by jamming it with faux-fittings, simply work with it to bring together a superbly eclectic classic charm/modern touch unique interior.

2. Plan a custom lighting concept

In all spaces it’s essential to create custom lighting that works perfectly with the space. In smaller spaces you can use different lighting techniques to highlight spaces as if they were their own room, spread light around the space and completely overcome issues like poor natural light. Top tip – mirrors are superb for naturally diffusing light through a small or awkwardly-shaped space. Something like Venetian mirrored furniture ticks all the boxes.

3. Invest in bespoke style solutions

Bespoke designer furniture can be a superb solution to space issues like unusually-shaped bedrooms, small expensive studio apartment in central London and so on. 4. Use colour and texture to add depth

Playing tricks on the eye with colour is almost a science in itself ! Did you know keeping the wall your window is on painted light shade helps add a sense of space to the room even if the rest of the walls are a dark, vivid hue ?

5. Don’t fall into the trap of only using small pieces of furniture

The luxury look is perfect for statement pieces. If you’ve always had your eye on a luxury velvet headboard, don’t scrap the idea in favour of a fold-away bed (despite tip no.3) Embrace large pieces if they’re what your heart is set on and work them practically into the space.

6. Movable accessories for changeable style

Kelly Hoppen on Dragon’s Den

Juliettes Interiors is delighted that Kelly Hoppen has been signed up for the 11th series of the BBC’s Dragon’s Den show. Kelly has written a number of design books, fronted the popular TV show on Channel 5, superior interiors as well as running her own design school.

Our founder, Juliette is especially interested in Kelly’s input to the entrepreneurial Dragons Den show as she herself appeared on it twice some years ago. Juliette comments “I wish Kelly had been a Dragon when I had my times on the show. She would have understood more about my business and I am sure been an inspiration to me”.

Case study on Luxury jewellers shop – PIKO Japan

Juliettes Interiors is very proud to have worked along side the interior designer responsible for this prestigious high end jeweller based in Japan for their new flag ship luxury store. We were originally approached to provide the furniture and accessories for this project back in March 2011. The client visited our offices and discussions took place regarding the exact look they wanted to achieve. The look was to be luxurious with satin darker fabrics, and bespoke finishes to much of the furniture. When the client was asked why they made their purchase with us it was for this fact that we were able to offer unusual, luxurious finishes with customers own fabrics and mix and match combinations to produce the final desired look not available anywhere else.

I think you will agree the exclusive furniture looks exquisite and congratulations are due to the designer responsible for doing such a good job.
