All White
My little love affair with black furniture remains undimmed yet…. I have to confess to a roving eye in the other direction. There is something really seductive about the white furnishings which we are now adding to our white collection. The glamorous glossy stuff, such as our Hollywood Regency leather armoire, or our lovely little Hollywood Regency curved sofa, are especially covetable and I can see the more traditional French/Gustavian pieces such as the Issy dining table or the Givry cabinet, integrating beautifully into a graceful room. Add a touch of silver here and there and some restrained restrained crystal lighting. … oh, and a vase of pure white tulips and you’ve a magical result.
Those were the days -
Those were the days - Smart tuxedos, chiffon cocktail dresses, drinking Singapore Slings at Raffles Hotel in Singapore. I cant help but notice how the Cocktail cabinet is making a revival. What was originally manufactured as a novelty between the First and Second World Wars - when Bright Young Things sipped iconic mixtures such as Singapore Slings or Vodka Martinis while they danced the night away - is making a comeback. The cocktail cabinet revival is back. While cocktails are enjoying renewed popularity, and furniture is sleek and glamorous again, it seems natural that the cocktail cabinet should make a grand return, especially as the new versions are so alluring.
Back into the Dragon’s Den…
….There’s been a lot of excitement around Juliette’s Interiors interiors’ HQ since the Dragon’s Den tour bus arrived to see how managing director Juliette Thomas has been getting on since her appearance on Dragon’s Den last year. The lady dragon -Deborah Meaden - turned up in person to look around our premises, gave the company the thumbs up, and talked about what the future holds. We cannot predict the future, but we are grateful for the loyal following we’ve generated among customers looking for the sophisticated furnishings which have become our trademark. Our aim is to continue bringing you beautiful furniture and accessories, and to extend our bespoke service.
Customers are well impressed with the bespoke service we offer with our Cannes collection- offering customers the option to tailor these items to fit just where they should.
Chinese-style Ginger Jars
You might have noticed that Chinese -style ginger jars are enjoying a decorative revival. Steeped in history, porcelain jars with globular bodies and domed lids were often given as wedding presents, to store a variety of foodstuffs -especially ginger. The idea reached Europe in the 19th century , when Victorian households kept them around the house. Now they’re back - in a rather more glamorous guise. Take a look at our giant -sized silver and nickel versions which make the perfect accessories. They look fabulous displayed in twos, or even threes, beside a fireplace or beneath a console table.
Also…
…while we’re enthusing about things Oriental, we’ve also fallen in love with these magnificent ceramic vases featuring dragon- shaped handles. They look a bit like the ginger jars without with their domed lids. They make a bold statement in any room.
Paris
‘I really did love being in Paris last week, seeing the city in all its burnished autumnal beauty. The atmosphere was dreamy, especially in the quarter where I was staying, in a real gem of a hotel, a stone’s throw from Notre Dame. One of the best things about Paris as a city break is the atmosphere. which is free. I spent many a happy hour, wandering around, gazing at wonderful sights such as traditional shop windows filled with ribbons and bows, vintage jewellery, or scrumptious displays of pastries and cakes. All the Parisian’s were back from their holidays, of course, looking tanned and effortlessly sophisticated as only French women seem to manage in noticeable numbers. They have an enviable knack for elegant simplicity….like a lot of the French furnishings I saw.
Paris for me is always inspirational. I found a wonderful new idea with mirrors that gives total flexibility - offering a classical look but a contemporary way of using them. Imagine 2 large floor standing mirrors with a deep carved gilded surround but only on the top bottom and one long side with one side unframed. Then take a centre section with only a top and bottom frame with no sides and place it next to the first mirror. The trick here is to then add a second first mirror upside down making the right side and place them altogether with little gaps in-between each one. Using this design and layout the mirror(s) can actually be as big as needed with simply adding centre sections. And as usual at Juliette’s Interiors, lets make it your way, with your bespoke size and colour to fit that special place
Au revoir !
As the song says ….I love Paris in the springtime
…but I also like it in the early autumn when the leaves are starting to turn. Very romantic. In fact, I’m off there next week, to source lots of new products - not seen before in the UK. Every time I go, I find something different and very en vogue. Rest assured, we will be offering something special to Juliette’s Interiors’ customers on my return. I am staying in a delightful French boutique hotel in the heart of the Ile Saint Louis. Called Hotel des Deux Iles, it is tucked away, close to Notre Dame – in a narrow little street, redolent of French movies. While I’m in Paris, I will be wandering around a lot, soaking up the atmosphere, enjoying the food and the wine - a favourite pastime. I can’t wait to get there. but I will be eager to get back to showcase all the goodies.
Au Revoir…
Furniture for Your Home In Monaco
Whether you are furnishing a new home in Monaco, or you are simply interested in a more engaging look for a place that you have owned for some time, you’ll find that Juliette’s Interiors is the ideal choice for not only our stylish furniture collections, but also for our experience of service and delivery to the Monaco area. Choosing the right furniture for you home is a key aspect to really revealing its personality and to bringing guests into it, and with a little bit of work and through spending some time absorbing the décor that is so popular in Monaco, you’ll find that there are plenty of choices that are available to you.
Choosing the right furniture for your Monaco home has a great deal to do with textures. There is a curiously heavy effect that works well with homes in this region, something that is a gorgeous cross between the Spanish styles and furnishings that come from the Hollywood Regency styles. You will find that ornate furnishings that are not shy about including a truly impressive amount of detailing are the rule of the day and that rich woods, whether they are pale or dark, accent these home beautifully. Consider what kind of effect you want in each room and how much detailing it will bear; it is important to move forward with the right plan in mind!
When you are thinking about buying furniture for your home in Monaco, remember that you should also consider the classic French influence. When you think of classic French furniture, you may wonder what it has to do with the rich style described above. The truth is that not all French furniture is spindly and fragile. Instead consider the ornate lines and rich upholstery of some French pieces. There is nothing shy or demure about black and gold drawer sets or lovingly embellished mirrors. In fact, the gold that is so very much a part of this furniture style will complement the dark colors mentioned above quite well. You will find that rather than clashing, you will have a rich and highly striking look to your home.
Another aspect of choosing furniture for your home in Monaco is what sort of textures you are interested in. There is a lot to be said for the cool and breezy styles that are so very much a part of the Monte Carlo environment. Remember that you should always choose textures that you love to touch, whether you have an appreciation for fine, sleek lines or wonderfully soft fabrics.
If you are trying to furnish your Monaco home, it is easy to see that only the best will do. While you could spend your time running from pillar to post and searching in the local stores, why not consider taking your search online? Not only will you have access to an immense variety of styles and upholstery when it comes to your furnishings, you will also have them delivered straight to your door as a matter of course. Remember that when you are looking around for the perfect furniture for your home that online stores can be searched quickly and easily for the ideal look.
