What do you buy for the man who has everything? Well, we don’t believe any father has absolutely everything but you may have to be a bit creative when it comes to finding the perfect Fathers Day Gift. We have put together our guide to some of our favourites. We’re looking at a spot of luxury for the father figure in your life, from the small and exquisite to the cool and quirky, to an out-of-this-world experience. You will need to get your skates on though. Fathers Day is this weekend – but we have included gift certificates and items with overnight delivery so, even if you’ve left your Fathers Day shopping until the last minute, you can still save the day.
Zero Gravity Experience £4250 – £43,350
Didn’t every dad once want to be an astronaut, before life got in the way? Here is his chance to live his dream, without waiting for Richard Branson. We’ve found 2 companies, both offering a day’s experience including full instruction; flight equipment; 15 parabolas where you get to experience weightlessness, lunar and Martian gravity; de-briefing and a re-gravitation celebration.
In the US, he can fly with Zero G aboard G-FORCE 1 from a choice of locations including Florida, Texas, California and New York. Their special Apollo 11 50th Anniversary flight has a waiting list but there are plenty of other flights available priced from $5400 for a standard flight to $55,000 for a private section of the flight and up to 12 participants (or he could have it all to himself with plenty of room for weightless acrobatics).
Alternatively, for €6000 he could fly with AirZeroG from Bordeaux Mérignac in France. Jean-François Clervoy, an astronaut with the European Space Agency, shares his passion for space exploration and his experience, including 3 flights aboard the US Space Shuttle. AirZeroG flights get booked up very quickly but it will give him something to look forward to later in the year (or even next year).
When his golf needs all the help it can get. This gadget is great for improving his swing – without him having to constantly chase after the ball.
If he is a real gin aficionado, he’ll love this – 3 hours at Ginstitute in Notting Hill, touring the distillery, gin tasting and crafting his own unique gin (which can be re-ordered from the distillery when you all find out how fabulous it is).
Does his office need a re-vamp? Just imagine this fabulous desk either at work or in his home study, with its combination of smooth Canaletto walnut, leather and polished chrome. This is just one of the many stunning pieces in our Luxury Office collection. Made specially to order, we know it won’t be here in time for Fathers Day but isn’t the anticipation half the pleasure?
If coffee is more his thing, give him a taste of real, barista-style coffee with this bean-to-cup machine. This sleek black version is exclusive to John Lewis.
If you’re ordering the coffee machine, he’ll need some equally-impressive cups to show off his new-found barista skills. This collection of 6 gorgeous, rainbow coloured mugs by le Creuset is just the thing.
He can easily store all his overnight essentials in this striking, contemporary terracotta bag. Made of soft, smooth goat skin leather, the red straps provide a stylish and eye-catching contrast. A must for the man about town.
It doesn’t matter whether he’s vegan or not, these red sneakers make a real fashion statement. Umistakeably Italian and worn by some very stylish celebrities. Maybe not for everyone – but your dad isn’t everyone, is he?
Cufflinks may not be the most original Father’s Day gift but if he’s more of a suit, tie and double cuff type, we think he’ll love these. Understated but with a touch of humour, they would brighten up any boardroom.
Even if he has to wear a suit, it needn’t be boring. Add a touch of glamour to his daywear with a colourful pocket square like this beautiful silk square by Rampley & Co. This is just one of an extensive selection available from The Rake Menswear.
Ray Ban Clubmaster Classic Sunglasses. £127 Ray Ban
Add the finishing touch to any outfit whether it’s smart, casual or beachwear. These iconic sunglasses will add a splash of retro glamour. Not only are they on offer at Ray Ban right now, they can also be customised to create something unique, specially for him.
No more air guitar with this innovative silent guitar by Yamaha. Attach it to headphones and he’ll get the true sound of a top-end acoustic guitar without annoying the rest of the family. Run it through a speaker and he can share the sound around.
This is for the dad who works through lunch (or just likes to snack at his computer). Neat, foldable and stylish, two types of bristle deal with fine dust on the screen to croissant crumbs on the keyboard. Who doesn’t want one of these for Father’s Day?
Does his tache need taming? This tiny little pot of beeswax, coconut and jojoba oil is just the job. With its subtle Windsor fragrance, it gives a firm but natural hold whilst keeping his moustache in tip top condition.
Whatever you choose, we hope he loves it. If you take up any of our recommendations, do send us photos of your dad with his wonderful gift and we’ll publish them in our blog. We’re looking forward to some magnificent moustaches, budding astronauts and maybe even a quick G&T.
