Windsor Home Interior Design. Part I – Master Bedroom

Today, we’re giving you a quick peek at our latest interior design project. This work in progress is a delightful home in Windsor, UK, not too far from Windsor Castle. While this home may be a little more modest in its proportions, the client is still looking for a luxury, high end look and finish. Quality is the overriding watchword. Our interior design team are working closely with the client, finding out their taste in décor, their likes and dislikes. We are busy at the moment developing themes, mood boards and schematics. We’ll keep you updated with its progress as we go along, showing you how we take a project from initial consultation through its dramatic transformation to a perfect finish. If you can’t wait to see this one, take a look at a few of our other interior design projects.

The Interior Design Brief

The brief is to create a contemporary and luxurious master bedroom. The space is relatively small so our aim is to use the space wisely and make the room look as spacious and airy as possible. The interior design is to be simple and unfussy, letting the quality of the luxury furniture, the gorgeous fabrics and flawless finishes shine through. Having said that, it is certainly not spartan or harsh. Every item will be chosen for its elegant look and an ultimate level of comfort. In a room of this size, there is nowhere to hide so every piece has to be perfect.

The Design So Far…

We are still in the early stages of this interior design project. So, how are we intending to achieve the client brief? Firstly, to make the room look as spacious as possible, we have used mirror panels to either side of the bed, finished in a refined, gunmetal silver. Fabrics, wallpapers and even accessories have a subtle sheen to reflect light without being ostentatious or over the top. We have included plenty of lighting, not only for illumination but also to create changes in ambience and different moods, depending on the task, season or time of day. As well as adjustable bedside spotlights, you will also see our choice of fabulous, smoked glass pendant lights, positioned in front of the mirrors to create multiple reflections and a feeling of light and space.

A Spectacular Centrepiece

The centrepiece of this master bedroom is a sumptuous, pleated design bed. We wanted a luxury bed that creates a statement without overpowering the room. So we’ve gone for one that is wide and low but with a striking, tall headboard to continue the illusion of space. It is upholstered in a soft grey, linen-print faux suede with a feature, plain faux suede pleated central panel that continues onto the foot end of the base. This bed is stunning in its simplicity, softness and clean lines.

A Natural Colour Scheme

The colour palette is based on natural tones and warm greys to continue the fresh, airy theme. However, this is contrasted with a splash of rich plum velvet to add depth and interest. The super-luxurious shaggy rug and plump, feather-filled cushions add texture, comfort and a sense of fun, while elements of warmth and simplicity are reflected in the stone grey, cable knit throw.

What you see here is just the starting point. Working closely with the client, things may well be tweaked before we agree on the final furniture, fabrics and finishes. We’ll keep you updated but in the meantime, watch out for the living room design.
