Coffee tables, in our opinion, are the unsung heroes of any interior design scheme. Often overlooked, maybe taken for granted, they never seem to have a feature of their own. So, this week, I have chosen 10 of my favourite coffee table designs for you. With so many to choose from, narrowing it down to just 10 was a bit of a struggle. Have a browse through the whole Coffee Table category and you’ll see what I mean. I’ve gone for the more contemporary styles here as these are the ones that really speak to me, but we have everything from ultra-modern to Louis and baroque designs. So, if you are on the look out for something more classic or fabulously flamboyant, do feel free to ignore my choices and come up with your own top 10. Interior design is all about personal taste, after all.
Contemporary Italian Nest of Coffee Tables
When you’ve been in the luxury furniture and interior design business as long as we have, it’s not often we come across something so different and so unusual. I love this trio of tables – shown here in high gloss walnut veneer and a high gloss burnt sienna lacquer with burnished brass tiered base and inset disc detail. As with all our products, this is just your starting point, giving you the freedom to choose your own combination of sizes, veneers, lacquers and metallic finishes. Go on, create your own bespoke nest of coffee tables. If you need samples of the options available, just give us a call.
Modern Marble Coffee Table Nest
- Modern Designer Marble Italian Coffee Table Nest£3,136.00 – £12,161.00
This is a stunning little nest of coffee tables. I can see this in my own home, alongside my favourite sofa (with a cheeky G&T at the weekend). I’ve always loved marble and this pristine white Calacatta marble is beautifully offset by the fresh titanium finish of the asymmetric base. They would also make an unusual, dual-height bedside table. In fact, several of the coffee tables that I’ve chosen could make a striking, minimalist bedside.
Black High Gloss Lacquered Coffee Table
This gorgeous round coffee table is stunning in its simplicity. Available in two different sizes, the high gloss black lacquer structure works effortlessly with the sleek polished brass slides. It is completed by a striking lacquered glass top. Just like the marble tables above, I can see this versatile little table in a range of interior scenarios, can’t you?
Recycled Wood Contemporary Coffee Table
I love the glamour-meets-rustic combination of glossy stainless steel and recycled elm wood here. Part of our new Showhome Collection, this elegant coffee table gives a high end look but without the ultra high end price tag of our designer collections. Check out the whole Showhome furniture collection to see matching items and alternative finishes.
Contemporary Designer Modular Coffee Table
Chic, sleek and eye-catching, this dramatic coffee table is the perfect combination of style and function. The three elements – one soft, padded section, one rigid section and an asymmetric ‘bridge’ – offer a completely new take on the concept of a coffee table. Upholstered in a rich, charcoal velvet with a satin brass laminate, you can, of course, customise each part of it to design your own bespoke set.
Quilted Leather and Veneer Coffee Table
The finest quilted leather, sleek brass and a high gloss eucalyptus veneer. What’s not to love about this superb coffee table? I love this combination and colourway but just imagine how it would look with an ice-white or deep black marble top, a rosewood veneer or a chrome central band and plinth. The possibilities are endless. Well, not quite endless but you know what I mean.
Walnut Veneer Storage Coffee Table
Two hidden drawers give this minimal, low coffee table plenty of invaluable storage space without spoiling its ultra-sleek lines. It is on my top 10 list because it is so serene and uncomplicated. Shown here in a high gloss walnut with a burnished brass plinth, it is available in alternative gloss or matt wood veneers and a choice of plinth finishes.
Contemporary Matt Veneer and Marble Coffee Table
This image shows two coffee tables arranged together but I think I actually prefer the proportions of it as a single – and I love that wrap-around marble insert and leg design. If the high gloss finishes on the tables above aren’t for you, this shows just how elegant a matt Canaletto walnut veneer can look. You could always change this for ebony, rosewood, eucalyptus or even a lacquered top and then choose your marble insert and metallic detailing to suit. It’s not just for living rooms either. I can see this in an urban apartment, a study or even a relaxed corner of an executive office or boardroom.
Contemporary Designer Outdoor Coffee Tables
Don’t you just love the on-trend, mid-century styling of this pair of coffee tables? I love the fact that they are suitable for indoor and outdoor use (although I probably wouldn’t leave them outside for a whole British winter). They give a lovely, relaxed feel, and the two different heights and diameters offer plenty of space. Of course, you can buy them separately but I love how they work as a pair. As you would expect from Juliettes Interiors, both base and top can be customised, with a choice of ceramic faux marble or stone tops. Click on the image for full product details and you will see the various options available. My favourite for outdoors would probably be the travertine or fossil top with black legs. My indoor choice would depend just where I was planning to put it.
Marble and Walnut Veneer Oval Coffee Table
This is one of my favourite combinations to bring a touch of warmth and texture to a contemporary interior. Cool, white marble set against the exquisite patterning of a rich walnut root veneer, finished with a polished brass inset band. It is available in other combinations but why would you?
Laser Cut Bronzed and Marble Coffee Table
So simple yet so striking. I love the smooth simplicity of this polished black marble top, contrasting with the quirky and intricate bronzed base. I think this coffee table shows personality and a sense of non-conformity. Personalise it with alternative base finishes, a different marble or even a wooden top to make it a true reflection of your own personality.
